Week of 10/17/11 Featured Shop

This week I am featuring a friend's shop: Accents by Dave

Meet Dave, owner/designer of Accents by Dave:

I live just outside Atlanta , Ga. where I spend my time designing and creating jewelry, and tending to sales from my two supply shops. I have been creating my own pieces for 5 years now. I get an immense satisfaction from this work and love nothing better than to hear all the compliments on my work and have it find a happy home.

From March to May, I do one or two shows a month, but come May till December, I do at least 7 shows a month. I really enjoy craft shows, as I enjoy the attention my work gets when people see it up close and in person.

I have 4 other shops here at Etsy -

My beading supply shop, where I have over 600 gemstones, and findings at any given time Windspirit.Etsy.com

And for vintage items, Vintagecrapola.Etsy.com

I also have a new Jewelry shop, WindspiritDesigns.Etsy.com , where I will be featuring most all of my Shawl pin and barrettes, but also some earrings, pendants, and necklaces, made almost exclusively from the items I sell in my supply shop.

And my newest shop, JustWire.Etsy.com , was created to try and relieve my Windspirit shop of the over 120 wire listings I had cluttering up the shop.

Week of 6/21/2011 Featured Etsy Shop

I have chosen to feature KMGEMS.

Meet Kathy owner of KMGEMS:

Little about myself. I live Massachusetts, USA and I love to travel to the Cape Cod Beaches in the summer.

I have always enjoyed some form of crafts. Knitting was my favorite craft for many years until I went to a beading class on how to make a wine bottle cover. I have been hooked ever since. I have also taken a wire wrapping class. I am now completely hooked on jewelry making.

I love creating with Swarovski crystals because of the sparkle they have to them.

I have been selling jewelry to friends who requested special items. I have 2 cute grand daughters, who just love for me to make them something special.

I have been a Etsy.com shop owner since September of 2009.  I have a 100% satisfaction guarantee with my jewelry, so you can be confident in your purchases. Most of my items are one of a kind. I make duplicates by request ONLY.  I also offer special discounts each month. Just stop by for a visit in my shop to see this month's specials.

Week of 6/12/11 Featured Etsy Shop

I have chosen to feature GwynndasGems.

Meet Gwynnda Teets, owner of GwynndasGems

I taught myself by copying pieces from the free “How To” at the local arts/crafts stores. In the beginning, my skill level and style had me working with all store bought findings and random beads that looked pretty in the store and I made simple sets for myself. I also gave many away to family and friends. Today, I design and then create original pieces that hold no fabricated/store findings and for me, this is what makes the pieces magical, special and one of a kind.

I am a stay-at-home mom and part-time employee (working with my husband). I have three beautiful daughters and one handsome son. My family and friends are what mean the most to me. My family (and especially my husband!) understands my passion for jewelry. My daughters love what I do and think its awesome because mom can make it or mom can fix it.

It was the people I love most who have encouraged me to try to market my unique jewelry, instead of just giving it away to a select few. And from there, I began to dream of expanding my talent and allowing people from all over to appreciate my special pieces.

I inherited my passion from my grandmother. She loved to make crafts for us and with us when I was a child. My grandmother could take an unpainted porcelain head and turn it into a doll with a little bit of paint, fabric and wire. Because of her, I love hand-made vs. store-bought treasures. I wanted to share this philosophy through my special jewelry with all of you. Etsy is the perfect jumping off place for me and I am making the leap!
